Grandma and Grandpa Beckstrand paid us a surprise visit this weekend. Well, they did call ahead, but we kept it a secret from the kids. The kids enjoyed the surprise, and we kept our sanity. :) The visit was wonderful and once again gave us an opportunity to laugh at, I mean WITH Nathan. Grandma and Grandpa were kind enough to take us to dinner after which we reminded the kids,
"Don't forget to thank Grandma and Grandpa!" (They had already left in their own car.)
"Why?"
"Because Grandpa paid for our dinner."
Our dear Nathan then piped up with, "What did Grandma do?"
That reminds me of the joke Nels Beckstrand told a long time ago. As I remember it (it was a LONG time ago) a helicopter is lost in the Seattle area because of fog. They finally see a building and fly close enough so that occupants of the building can read a sign that says, "Where are we?" To which the building occupants held up a sign, "You are in a helicopter." Immediately the pilot flew directly to their landing . . . spot. Only computer programmers (in the Microsoft building?) could give such a technically correct but essentially useless answer. LOGICAL, but almost useless. Hopefully Nathan is getting more than just a professional education so that he can understand the difference between technically correct and useful.
Cheers, Nathan! And thanks for the visit, Mom and Dad Beckstrand!
