We finally got everything together and left with all of our luggage in the Toone's van with Bro. Lamon Wimmer driving. Thanks to all who helped us get off!
It was a great drive over (Thanks, kids!) and allowed us some breathing time before diving into the serious air travel and serious new landscape. And thanks to my sister and her husband for putting us up in a really great hotel that night.
We had a really nice morning and used the airport shuttle and a skycap to help get all of our stuff there and checked in. Here Merisa is sitting on our pile of luggage waiting for our turn in line.
Here's the rest of us waiting in line with our carry ons.
Made it through security and then waited a bit to board the plane. Except for not getting connected to the internet so we could let everyone know we'd made it, we did just fine here for a few hours. I'm very grateful for the care they took of us and the 6 minors I was traveling with.
They served Chinese food for each meal. Thankfully they also served rolls with each meal.
Hurrah for electrical outlets, even though only one within reach worked, it allowed us to use my humble lap top during the very long 14 hour flight.
Mathew had fun playing with a little boy in front of him, and trips to the bathroom were a welcome break. We also watched some pretty dumb movies that they were showing, colored with color wonder, read with Kindles, and played with miscellaneous activities that we brought.
And eventually we all slept a little, though Merisa definitely got the most rest.
